Favorite duck breed and why?

Welsh harlequin can be sexed by Bill colour at Hatch. I can't say anything about temperament though.
I raised Appleyard so I really love them..Great layers and friendly.
I read that about the WH. Do you still have appleyards or just calls?

Researching ducks to see which ones I want to get started with. So, what is your favorite breed of duck and why?
Hello! I only became a duck mother last January, so my "expertise" :)p) is limited.

My favorite breed is Pekin. Yes, this is the most popular and the color white may be viewed as "boring", but I've found that Pekins are an all around good choice to have. They, for one, are BEAUTIFUL in both Summer and Winter. Mine have a slight off-white, maybe even slight yellow, tint, but this makes them adorable. They're fat, they waddle a lot when they run, and they're usually pretty calm after their initial excitement (especially when you pick them up).

Really though, I'm in love with all breeds (possibly all animals). I started with Pekins and they were a good fit for me. I wish you the best of luck finding the right breed for you!

Please post pictures when you get them. We'd love to see them :)

I think pekins are cute. Do you have the jumbo version?

Muscovy's are like puppies my drake loves to cuddle and my females eat out of my hand.

My Runners are the clowns of the property they just make me laugh every day. It's one for all and all for one with that group.

The 2 female Buffs were hatched with the Runners so they think that is who they are. They are my loud ones but I love their hahaha that is what it sounds like when they belt it out[Someone is out there cracking jokes.]

Probably Welsh Harlequins. They're a good sized duck, not overly fat and not so light they get into mischief with their wings. I love their plumage, plus they're good layers (just not in winter) of large eggs. They're sweet and they get along well with flockmates.

Silver Appleyards are another favourite of mine. They're big and goofy.
