Some of my favorite movies, in no particular order:

Harold and Maude
Koyaanisqatsi
'night Mother
The Shawshank Redemption
Dead Poet's Society

The fact that none of them are from this century must mean I haven't seen many movies in 35 years! Dead Poet's Society came out in 1989.

Great plot, wonderful acting, incredibly tight editing, beautiful scenery, AMAZING horsemanship, magnificent musical score ... Kirk Douglas x2... Australia's Snowy Mountains ....

And a lot of the lines are... risqué, to put it bluntly. There's an entire book about it, Shakespeare's Bawdy, by Eric Partridge.

In high school we were supposed to read Chaucer's Tales out loud, taking turns. . This was a Catholic school. I think it was Senior year, 1969-70. We got through a few paragraphs and then stopped, totally embarrassed, and then told our teacher, a nun, we weren't going to read any more. Not one of us would go on, it was too embarrassing. She asigned us a different book.
