Favorite "old school" Christmas toy

Hey! We still get yo-yos!

Yep, they are still considered old school though. My grandmother was the yo-yo queen. My kids like them too.

My husband and I come from pretty different backgrounds. So I enjoyed lite-brites, skip balls (Like the lemon thing...there was one kind that was really, really popular when I was a kid, but heck if I remember the brand name...guess the only important part was the actual toy!), a hobby horse I rode so much that the bell fell out of a hole I wore through the end, jacks, cat's cradle string games, pogo sticks, etc. His treasured toys as a kid include fireflies in a jar and a pet carpenter ant he'd feed frosted flakes to, and that he cried over when she died.

PS. MaryMouse who loves crayons, you wouldn't happen to be the Mary Mouse who writes and draws gorgeous comics are you?

I bought a spirograph for my youngest son, and he played with it for hours. Turns out he was OCD, and trying to get one perfect was driving him crazy. We laugh about it now! But my favorite toy was chalk and a sidewalk, for hopscotch. And I loved playing jacks, too.

Oooooh, I have a whole bunch of them!

Tupperware made them, I think they were called the Pop-A-Lot. They were a cone shaped device with a blue ball in it - you smacked on the bottom and the ball went flying and you had to catch it.
Big wheels - I stole my brothers and my mom had to buy me one.
Tonka trucks - again stole my brothers. (the real metal ones)
Pogo sticks - even if I sucked at them. (and we don't need any stinkin helmets

)
Hula hoops.
The big red wagon - my brother and I used to sit in it and "drive" it down the steep street by our house. We'd crash on the neighbor's lawn.

Crazy Carpets for snow sleding, we always got a new sled for the hill.

We used to go to the park and slide down the hill, at the bottom of the hill, was a creek, with a floppy fence. They used to put bales of hay at the bottom for us to hit, slow us down so we didn't hit the fence. or go in the creek..

I betcha kids are no longer aloud to slide down that hill, and hit the hay bales..

Does anyone remember the ride-on toy Inch Worm?
I also used to have a Mrs. Beasley Doll that I would NOT be without.
How about the easy bake oven?

We got one for my son two years ago. His best friend came over to play one day with her dad and HE wanted to go for a ride - said he always wanted one, but never got one...
