I am so sorry for your loss. Reading your story made me cry. Shenanigan & Haiyup sure looked good together. Maybe add a little VetRx to Haiyup's water to help with stress. You and Haiyup take care.

Geez! I can sure sympathize. Been there myself. I love their coloring. What breed are they? I didn't read where you said.

they are Silver phoenix. he would have been beautiful as an adult

the owners of the yellow dog live up the hill, and they like to party and drive recklessly. they nearly hit me once when i was walking to town, they didn't even stop just skidded out. they aren't very nice people. they are older than i am but i can still say they are young, 24-25. the do a LOT of irresponsible drinking. i don't think they will take it well.

and thank you all for sympathizing with me. i know we all have dog problems, and it bothers me so much that there is so little we can do about the problem as a whole.

and i put a lot of thought into pet names, too. they usually don't get their name until after they are well over three weeks old. Hayup's name came to me because she likes to be as high up as possible. when she a month old she got out of the brooder and we found her on the top of the fridge? i think she jumped on the counter from a box on the floor and then jumped to the fridge from there. she's always trying to get on top of my head, usually with success.

i really hope the neighbors don't throw a big fit, which i think they will. the last time i shot a dog over my chickens the tires on my truck got slashed, and another time i found the dog owner's son in the coop with a pocket knife killing them one by one, stabbing them.

It won't be the same without him. if and when the dogs come back, they're not going to be going home. thank you all

it really helps me feel better about this whole thing. i know we all have some pretty bad problems with pests like dogs. i really wish there was more i could do!

I'm so very sorry for the horror your dear feathered friend had to endure. And for his sister in mourning. (a drop or so of Rescue Remedy in her water each day for now...) And for you.

Sorry also to Shannon

Irresponsible people cause so much pain. And haunting memories.

Ah, silver Phoenix. I must read up on them!

BTW, be very careful and wary of these idiots.

I have had a lab take a few of my chickens. I finally caught the dog and put it in my dog pen. Then I called animal control. Unfortunately, or fortunately which ever way you want to think of it, the owners showed up before animal control. I told them I called AC and they were coming to pick up the dog and that the dog has killed a few of my chickens. I was then told AC was not taking their dog and he let it out of the pen. I told him if I did see the dog again, he would be back in the pen and if he did not start keeping the dog home, he would eventually get hit by a car.

Well a few days later the Lab was back, but I took him home due to being hit by a car. I told the boys father if the dog is in my yard again, they will not get him back.

I have not seen the dog since.

going to do that today, but the local police are... well, less than they should be. they are pretty lazy about just about everything. they don't even take the drunks out of my yard anymore, i have to tell them myself. i will call them anyway though. it wouldn't do any harm, but i still have doubts about them. the "animal control officer" does NOT do his job. at all. ever.

I just hate this for you!!

I hate when people don't take care of the animals they are responsible for. I have the same problem here. I want to be showed the same respect as I give... I keep all my animals up and on my property. But my some of my neighbors obviously think they own the whole neighborhood, or that their dogs do.

And yes one has had to "disappear"(sssh) already.

many a dog has come into my yard and never went home. i use .22 shorts so they barely make a sound in my teeny tiny chipmunk .22 rifle. most owners will see their dead dog and think i beat it to death because shorts leave such a little bullet hole. no blood, nothing.

why don't people keep their dogs home and safe? why don't they keep anyone else's animals safe from their dogs? ALL dogs are potentially dangerous, no matter what breed or how tame. there was a chocolate lab that attacked my nephew once. the owners said it wouldn't happen again, they said they wouldn't let their dog loose anymore. they didn't.

i had to step in when it was sniffing around my quails.
