Favorite thing YOUR chickens do!

I love how, on a hot day, sometimes my cochin will just fall over, because she's so warm! It's so funny to see a chicken, just strollen along, stop then fall over! (they're perfectly healthy, mind you.)

When free ranging, the adults come running with wings a flappin' - kind of a low level flight - in order to get to me (and hopefully treats) quicker.

My 5 week old Welsummers, who are the friendliest birds I have ever had, come to pick at my hands and fingernails and let me scratch their bellies.

Chickens seize moments because they don't plan out their days. ;)

If one encounters the perfect sunny spot in one's travels, one must stop and enjoy the sunbeam!

I love watching a momma hen do this, and all her little chicks throw themselves on the ground around her, doing the same. Their attention spans are much shorter - you know kids! - and they'll pop up and get onto momma, or scratch around and throw themselves down again.

I love when mine put their heads low to the grown and race across the yard with their wings spread and then jump when they get to our rock ledge thing that is a foot off the ground. XD XD XP XP

One of my Black Stars is quite the social chicken! She is the first to greet me at the human door, and knows how to hop down the steps, and she always follows me around. Also, two of my Ameracaunas love to fly. One of them must wish she was a bird that could actually fly! She also scrapes her beak on the floor, which I think is too cute! The other one will be in the corner of the coop, and fly halfway across to either play on the roost that runs the width of the coop, or greet me at the door. Then one of my Leghorns and all three of my Buffs will almost always try to fly up on my shoulder or back whenever I visit.

My rooster I gave away used to wait at the door and try and come inside when he was free ranging. My current rooster lets you carry him around, but when you do his head bobs like he is walking! Cutest thing ever!
