Favorite White Egg Layer Breeds

So many choices! From what I've read on this forum, it seems that none of the white egg layers are particularly "cuddly" birds. I'm new to chickens, wanted a colorful egg basket (and flock), and decided to go with EE, speckled sussex, silver laced wyandotte, and an exchequer leghorn. Mine are still chicks yet (only about 6 weeks old), but so far my leghorn is one of the least flighty chicks. She doesn't seem to mind being picked up, will fly up and perch on my arm, will sit still for a moment while I pet her, and was always one of the first to come check out my hand in the brooder (they're now moved into the coop and she's slightly more stand-offish, but all of them are except for one EE). From reading one of the leghorn threads, it seems that this is a fairly typical temperament for the exchequers. Plus the black and white plumage is pretty flashy too. And while leghorns have a reputation for being flighty, the only house I've been to that has a few they didn't seem any more skittish than the other hens (and they were even white leghorns).

I love leghorns. They are known for being very skittish and scared but I never seem to have a problem, I would recommend a non-white variety; brown and exchequer leghorns are beautiful! Good luck

Do you find there's a difference in temperament between the white leghorns and the brown or exchequer? Also, how do you raise calm leghorns? Do you just handle them often as chicks?
Thanks!
