So what do I do? Treat again with an anti-fungal cream? Or?It would be a difficult thing to do without the right staining technique and a lot of experience. For a human dermatologist or a full time poultry vet it's something they come across fairly frequently. But, I doubt that any general purpose vet is going to come across favus on a chicken often enough to develop a knack for diagnosing it. Most vets do not see as many chickens as a chicken-keeper does. That's why you even noticed it to begin with.
That's what I was thinking. And I live in a pretty rural area, so the vets here see chickens/ducks/geese. Sheep/pigs/horses.They should be able to i.d. fungus/yeast with scrapings as well as face mites.
