Favus?

I obviously want this to be anything but Favus! (have applied the anti fungal cream today however) am I clutching at straws to wonder whether, as a result of the recent scorching sun in the UK, that this might be sunburn on her comb? This summer would be the first time she’s been exposed to the sun, she’s an ex-colony caged commercial laying hen, 1 year old and rescued 8 weeks ago.

Hello @Wyorp Rock here she is this morning. She’s an ex-batt hen I’ve had her for 8 weeks. She sustained some peck scratches on her comb from the initial pecking order squabbles between the 3 ex batts I got together. She’s always been pale, her comb has shrunk as expected but she’s left with this dry, flakey, peeling comb that looks a bit swollen?
I’ve ordered some athletes foot cream in case it’s fungal - what’s your view? Appreciate any advice.

I’ve also got 3 hybrid hens, all fit and well, had them for 5 years with no experience of anything similar. I’m keeping the two groups of 3 separate at the minute.
Thanks again.

I'd go ahead and treat as Favus as suggested.

Possible it could be some scabbing from picking and some sun damage, but applying the anti-fungal won't hurt a thing.

Sounds like she's doing well with adjusting. She's lovely. Ex Batts can be special, we don't see them that often here in the U.S. but in the UK many people have them. I'll tag @Shadrach to see if he may have some more info/suggestions for you.
To me, after 8wks of you taking care of her, I think she looks pretty good!

Thanks so much @Wyorp Rock yep, she’s doing ok 🤞 just don’t want to miss anything that will jeopardise that. Have applied the anti fungal cream again this morning, and have left her happily munching through her breakfast! Hopefully @Shadrack will chirp in too, I see they are in Bristol, so that’s good, any and all advice hugely appreciated 😊
