I generally read the description of a Fayoumi as being "silver penciled" but they almost always look barred. Does anyone know if they are barred or if they are silver? I've read both. Maybe there are two varieties? But if so, why do the "silver" ones look barred? Am I confused?

I have one and when she loses her feathers they are stripped or penciled. I guess you can call them barred if you want.
