Howdy! I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find quality FBCM? I really would like to have eggs that will be 7-9 on the marans scale consistently. (Of coursec right!:))I could possibly be convinced to do hatching eggs instead. I am pretty open. I tried looking at forums, but I couldn't find any newer posts so I thought I would start one. I am looking to acquire eggs or chicks in May-ish so it's not so hard on the cutie pies. :)

Feather lovers farm online shows they have nice eggs, although I've never purchased from there. I get my marans from a breeder in Washington state. Hatchery chicks typically don't lay as dark but keep in mind that the eggs are normally darker at the beginning of the laying cycle.
Good luck with your search!

Hi, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Adding your general location to your profile will help others to make the most relevant suggestions possible at a glance. ;)

I just sold my breeding stock to a guy in Oregon, if that's close to you... they are very good quality compared to most I see. Think he only has hatching eggs currently.

One place I considered ordering from but no actual experience with them...

Good luck, they are ONE breed that's actually as good in reality as they are on paper! :love

Sorry about that. I didn't realize that that wasn't filled out or that was even an option to do so. I live in central IL, and it just seems like it is barren of anything poultry, waterfowl, etc. I have been scouring the internet for weeks trying to find local poultry auctions, swap meets, etc., and I am honestly not finding anything. Maybe I just am not searching correctly? Idk, but I am coming up with zip! Haha.

I have seen alchemist's website, and I liked what I saw with the FBCM, miss eggers, and their alchemist blue quail. I was unsure of the quality, and I did not want to risk it because of how expensive they are. Single family income because I am a stay at home momma has me being a little conservative considering I have already spent over $200 this year, and I still have more I want to get.

What did your eggs normally rate on the scale?:)

I am located in IL. I do not know if you would want to ship. Fertile eggs maybe? How much are you charging?
If you are just looking for the potential for dark egg layers, just get them at a hatchery. They will be much cheaper. But if you want high quality chicks, feel free to PM me. I know shipping will be pretty expensive as well. =/ And I don’t have hatching eggs available at the moment.
