Feather loss question!

the coop is now too big for them since losing half the flock. I thought about boredom too. with all the snow we've had, they don't like to leave the coop. I hung a cabbage today but it's so cold that the cabbage froze after a couple of hours. luckily it should warm up this week so they will go outside more
 
When molting those cold temps can make them chilly for sure.
Just provide fresh water and food.

My flock hung out in the coop today as well. It snowed and temps were low. I made sure to check their water regularly to make sure it wasn't freezing. I also tossed a little scratch and oatmeal on the bedding in the coop. This kept them busy for a while. Some of my girls are molting so they just didn't seem to be too keen on being in the wind.
