Could I have just one chicken molting? The other 13 look perfectly fine but this one hen is just feathers flying! I thought they were picking on her because she is a lower pecking order/less favorite flockmate but I've separated her and she continues to lose feathers.

Have you checked your flock for mites or lice ? Ik it sounds strange that their would even be lice or mites bc all the other chickens appear fine but I've had a few infestations of mites and often some hens look way worse than the rest you can check her vent area and under the wings for mites and lice.
How old is she? I have two 7 year old hens and they molt about every 3 or 4 months and I think it's bc they are so old .
Has she been laying eggs good ? Is she getting calcium In her food?
Keep us updated!!!!!I hope maybe this helps a bit.

Thanks! I will check for mites, but no one else has any signs at all. She just started coming up more and more bald starting about 4 days ago and each morning more feathers are. I separated her two nights ago, the coop looks like a war zone. But her little isolation spot is full of feathers as well!
Feed wise they are free range all day. They have access to pond, woods, field and frequently clean under the bird feeder. They also have free choice feed, a mix of 75% Kalmbach layer crumbles and 25% Featherfixer. They get a handful of corn/sunflower seeds as a treat between the lot of them.
I am not 100% sure on the egg question, I think she may have stopped. She always layed dark eggs, and I do not think she is now but I do have a pullet who just started to lay who lays similar colored eggs so now I'm not sure whos egg is whos.

The difference between these two pictures took her about a week, its quite crazy!

She was a year old in July I believe...

I have three hens that look just like that one. Think they are Welsummers.

Two of them are in the same shape your hen is, but I can see the feathers growing back in.

One of them oddly looses all its neck feathers in the summer. When I first took over this flock, I thought she had a problem but couldn't find anything. Then her feathers came in before winter. This year, same thing.

Phew!

I've never seen just ONE molt. Maybe she wanted to be ahead of the winter weather and the joke is on the other hens.....
Poor Janet, looks terrible right now!

H'mm now that I look at those pictures it just looks like she is molting becouse she isn't,old and it looks like she is probably getting enough nutrients from her food its probably the changing of the seasons maybe put some(1 teaspoon per gallon) apple cider vinegar and garlic(one crushed clove) in her water just for an immune boost she will probably start growing her feathers back soon and is most likely just molting at a different time than your other hens.
