Feather loss

My chickens (I have a different variety of them, and they are almost a year old) have lost most of their tail feathers. I was told that it was probably from the rooster mating with them and pulling them out. I did give the rooster away about 3 weeks ago but their bottoms don't look better. Any suggestions?

Are they molting?

Have you checked them for lice and mites?

It may just be the rooster, and it might take more than three weeks for them to begin to grow back. Sometimes feathers lost by trauma never grow back.
