I wish I had done a simple internet search on Feather Lover Farms before ordering from them. I paid them over $600 in February for 7 Ayam Cemani chicks and Priority Mail Express 2-day guaranteed delivery. The post office took four days to deliver them; by the time they arrived, they were not only dead, but stank so bad that the post office employees would not even bring the box inside after unloading the delivery truck. I do NOT wish to expose any more chicks to such a horrible and inhumane fate, and have exchanged multiple emails with Feather Lover Farms, asking them to cancel my order and refund my money.
They adamantly refuse to refund my money, despite the fact that they are not currently in the process of preparing or fulfilling any order for me, and despite the fact that they are able to collect the full insured value of the chicks, plus the cost of shipping, directly from the USPS (since the USPS at least does stand behind their product with a full refund guarantee).
Despite the fact that I have repeatedly explained to them that I do not consent to exposing any further chicks to the danger of such an inhumane fate, they refuse to do anything other than offer me a choice of reshipment or store credit, both of which involve repeating the process of exposing baby chicks to the unreliability of the postal service.
On top of that, the shipment contained only 6 all black chicks (Ayam Cemanis), and 2 buff colored chicks. They claim they sent all 7 Ayam Cemanis (not true), and that the buff colored ones are a different breed, included as a freebie.
Their terms and conditions do state that they never give full refunds, and that they never refund shipping. Perhaps this is a reasonable policy when they are in the process of hatching out eggs to fulfill an order, to protect them against getting stuck with chicks that they might then have no buyer for. But, given the fact that they are NOT currently hatching any chicks for me, and they are able to collect the full insured value of the chicks plus cost of shipping, from the post office, their refusal to budge one bit from their normal policy and make a special exception, instead demanding that I choose between subjecting further chicks to the very real danger of suffering and death, or losing my investment entirely, is nothing short of criminal in my opinion.
