I'm looking to buy Swedish Isbar and Cream legbar chicks. I live close to Feather Lover Farms, so I would probably pick them (even though they will still only ship the chicks) over Greenfire ... but I first wanted to see if you had any suggestions.

Thanks for your input!

Hi! And welcome to BYC. :) I haven't purchased from either of those places, but I have crested cream legbars (see avatar) and Silvrudd's Blue Isbars (and one splash isbar). I got them from Thunder Creek Farms. They're great!

Awesome Deepbluesea! How are they temperament-wise? More/less talkative than other chickens? I am Swedish and can't wait to have a Swedish chicken ;)

Mine aren't cuddly, but they always run to me when I come out in the yard and they chat. They also really, really want to roost in the trees--they fly well. Which can be a pain. :) They lay steadily and they're very pretty. You'll like them!

Oh, also meant to say: my legbars are the friendliest of my six breeds. Tallulah, my head CCR, almost always hops up on my chair or legs while I sit out with them in the evenings. She has a great personality.

Thanks Deepbluesea!!

I just got 5 chickens 5 weeks ago, and really want to add the legbar and isbar

my others are
1 olive egger
1 rhode island red
1 buff orpington
1 dominique
1 amerucana

Nice! I really want to get an olive egger and a buff orpington. And a speckled sussex and... you know--chicken math. :) I'll be interested in how your RIR turns out--people here say that they can be jerks and I've never met/had one.

Hatchery RIR aren't jerks per say. Actually will be friendly and coexist very well in the flock. Where they have problems is with introductions. Introduce new birds to flock and you'll see one relentless biddy going out of way to peck and pull feathers for weeks. They are not good to flock introductions and take the longest I've ever seen to accept new members.

Hi, Christina, I purchased 4 chicks from them for $180 and they send me 5 . However, when I came to the post office to get my chicks they said that chicks are all dead. And they were. I started contacting them and researching them and find out from this forum that I am not the one who they were bulling. Several people were stating that want to call them to the court and I think I need to do this to. I am not sure if they are, actually, a company or backyard breeders and not official. If you are close to them , would you be so kind to tell me their physical address? And maybe names? It would be easier to find more information about them and finally resolve the issue? They also want me to pay more money for shipping or threatening that if sending other batch they would use slow speed...I am thinking - if chicks did not survive the fast speed , how they would handle the slow speed? I am stuck. Would you help, please? I would really appreciate this. Thank you.
