Feathered Feet.

I have 6 Black Copper Maran, 4 pullets, 1 hen and 1 cockerel. Plus 7 others. Question I have is two of the Maran pullets have heavily feathered feet. It's very dry here all summer through fall so it's not an issue. Wondering if I should trim feathers on feet in winter when it is wet and muddy?

I have cochins; the wet doesn't seem to bother them. I've never trimmed feathers on the feet.

My French Black Copper Marans hen loved the mud, she would be the first one in it scratching all about. Never had any issues,,,

I have a bannie cochin and she seems to do fine in the mud.
We live in FL so we get alot of rain come season haven't had a problem.
When we lived in Oklahoma before coming back to FL she did fine in the snow too. ​

Its been a wet winter and a wet spring so far, my brahmas have no problems, and one is far more feathered than the other two. Yes, she looks like she has bedraggled feet, but it doesn't seem to bother her any.

I also keep Cochin and Brahma.

Never had an issue here with muddy feathers.

I have a light brahma in my flock & am always surprised that this isn't an issue for her. She loves to dig and scratch and you'd think those white feathers on her feet would be pretty gross, but they just aren't. Chicken magic?
