featherless bare spots on chicks - pix

It's the strain of Black Sex Link that they are. It seems most of them are hatching small and with feathers missing from their backs. I have compared it to them being 'waxed'.

The black stars I got last fall looked the exact same way. The feathers will grow in and they'll be fine.

Hope that helps.

They are looking better, or maybe just bigger. They seem to have hit a growth spurt. A couple of them still have bare patches, but they seem big and active. I'm just going to wait and see, maybe inspect for mites when we take em out to clean bedding. Thanks.
