Well I was gone for a day and when i got home went to check on my broody buff duck. As always , my mallard and domestic bibbed mallard drakes were" on guard", Then I actually walk into their yard, and my buff's flight feathers are everywhere!

Is this normal?
Did the fall out because she is done laying and is setting on them?
Did she pluck them out herself?

IS THIS NORMAL?!

I dont think so, all the feathers are perfect, not ruffled.

Is this molting or something to do with her going broody?

Our Jersey Black Giant always starts her molt right after the clutch of eggs hatches. Our newest chicks are 3 weeks old. So now our laundry/mud room looks like a pillow fight has been going on.

My drake and duck just molted their flight feathers. They grow new ones for the winter. It's looks like something went after them, but I know nothing did. They did it this time last year.

ok, whew, then im just over reacting i guess. will my ducks all molt at the same time? becuase now i also see mallard feathers along with my buff feathers.

It's possible, I suppose. Our daytime temps recently dropped 30°. and I noticed that we have a few hens and our roo now molting.... as well as our broody hen in the house.
