I have 4 Silkie chicks about a month....I have lost track. The feathers on their wings look like regular feathers with silkie ends.
Is this how they are supposed to look?

And...what color would it happen to be...it is blue. Does it look like a self blue? Can you tell if it is bearded?

Thanks!!

Yes it has feathered feet. They look good. I don't have any experience with Silkies but I do like my Salmon Faverolles, Cochins, Silkies, EE...guess I just like feathered feet and poofy heads, cheeks, beards..Hairy!! .LOL!!!

Oh...is it a "self blue"?

Is it supposed to be a self blue? I am pretty sure self blues are another term for the light blue/lavender color.
I think your right. I'm pretty sure self blue is another term for lavender...I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere!

I can't tell if it's bearded or not.
The wings are supposed to look like that, don't worry. All my silkies have wings like that.
It looks blue to me.

lavender is what self blue is called many, however you will never see the term lavender in the SOP although it's what i use to describe self blue 99% of the time so when you see lavender the poster is referring to self blue an even light gray on the entire body (never 2 toned)

your silkie looks just fine and is blue

OK! TY so self blue is like lavender...or a pure blue color with no darker colors on it like my chick. I never met the person that raised them. A breeder of Delawares (not Silkies) knew someone in PA that told him he had some Silkies. The man I knew picked them up for me after telling me he had found some. So, I have no idea what their parents look like or color they are supposed to be, or anything else except they are supposed to be Silkies. I am hoping for beards...I would like to someday have splashed, but the 5 I have right now will be fine as long as at least a couple are hens and 1 a rooster. There are 2 of different ages that are white from one Silkie breeder and then 1 partridge, 1 black, and this blue one (all the same age) from the 2nd Silkie breeder.
