Feb 16th hatch-a-long

When everyone has hatched, post pictures please. Ours were loudly chirping away this morning when I left for work. Even the little straggler that hatched last. He seemed to be doing great. I can't wait to see everyones feather babies.

I have 5 out and a few more with pips!

I moved the first 4 to the brooder. Their older brother Eggo wanted to meet the new babies.
Eggo is 3 weeks old....I guess what they say is true, "They grow up so fast!".

I will post pictures after the kids get home from school. I had a semi ok hatch rate. 14/17 Rhode Island Red eggs hatched of the 24 I started with. 1 of the 9 Silkie eggs I got for Valentine's Day hatched :( 3/6 of my Silkie and Silkie/Cochin eggs hatched.

We had a freak accident while the incubator was going... The electric line that went to our house sparked and blew the power out. We had to have the electric company come and fix it. So the eggs that were left in there didn't make it, I don't have the heart to crack them and see if I was right or wrong on my candling job.

Sneezy, the broody white silkie is still sitting on her 2 eggs. She's a few days behind my incubator by pure luck. I hatched 3/6 of her eggs in the incubator, 1 had pipped and was zipping when the power went out :(. All in all I think I did an awesome job for my first time with no egg turners.

14/24 Rhode Island Red - Purchased locally
1/9 Pure Silkie - Shipped
3/6 Silkie Mom Silkie/Cochin Roo - Backyard

Cute little 18 chicks running around made it all worth while. Pictures soon. There are some clips of them hatching at : www.ustream.tv/channel/hilltopfarmsny - I had a live fed going from the day before hatch day till the power went out. Recorded them hatching when I was in the room. :)

Pictures soon!!!!
