FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

It won't stay upright? Just keep helping it back to it's tummy for now..and hope that's all it is going to take. It might just think it's still in that egg, upside down...? Could be something else, but just have to wait and see. Good luck. Poor baby.

Well, I have decided with the next bunch going in this week I will use my much more expensive gauge for temp/humidity. I am also tossing out the egg turner and doing it by hand. (Or in egg crates on books) I have 12 BR, 24 Silkie, 12 assorted bantams, and 24 mixed eggs all ariving in the next few days. I clearly need a third incubator!!!! Ive gone hatching mad!!! :D

Morning of day 17. Opened the coop and found egg number 4 out of the nest in front of Nell. Picked it up, stone cold

But as this was the egg I suspected had been rejected last week (found on the floor but still warm on a hot day) I guess there is something wrong with it. Not sure I have the courage to open it up - may get hubby to do it later. There is nothing I could have done about it anyway.

So out of 8 at the start - I have had one kidnapping (No. 5 - taken by Penelope but returned), one flight/rejection (No. 4), one dropped (very short distance and no aparent damage No. 3) and one disappearance/abduction by aliens (No. 7)

6 left and 4 days to go!

One disappeared? ahh, those aliens strike again! good luck on keeping the rest! only 4 days, I bet you get a few to hatch. Can't wait for pictures now!

I am setting eggs from my own flock tonight or tomorrow morning :) I'm excited to see what they will look like. My question is I have a LG should the temp be higher? I kept my last batch at 99.5 and only 5 hatched the rest quit or dead after pipping ( my humidity was at 72%)

Of the 9 I had, only 3 ever developed. I don't candle until they are ready to lock down, that way I know for sure. The 6 I tossed were clear, never even began to develope. I'm so glad you had such a good hatch!!!

Ahhh ok. Really hoping your current and frizzles hatch well!! Fingers crossed!!

Temp is fine, humidity is too high. Humidity should be around 40% give or take 5%. Lock down should be between 55-65%. If the humidity is too high they can drown.

I am finally getting ready to go into lock down with my three barred rocks tonight. I will get things ready, I like putting that blue shelf liner in for them so they don't slip, or have to walk mostly on the wire. Then, in the morning will make sure humidity is staying. Sponge, or no sponge. :))
