I have a mercury one that stays about 100 and it s sitting on the egg turner itself, so that should be about the middle of them. I usually just go by my digital.

i use a digital one myshelf i have tried others and had bad hatches with them but if i go by my diggy i get good hatches eather way just keep a eye on it and really only start worring at about 103 but 102 is alright but not ideal and best if not kept that high

BUT I am so excited cause I got a house full of babies anyway

I went to TSC this morning, they got the chicks in today- I got 6 bantams- have NO clue what they are, but they are way cute & all have feathered feet. They only had 30 bantam chicks. 5 of the ones I got were each the only of their kind (color)- then I also got the tiniest blk one. It kept falling over cause it's so tiny, but seems to be doing great once I got it home in the brooder. Then an hour later the PO called for me to pick up my eng lav orp chicks. When I got home & opened the box I was so surprised- the auction was for 10 chicks, the lady sent 15!!! All are in excellent shape, so healthy & beautiful!

Oh yea and tomorrow is hatch day for my eng choco orp eggs (3), and I am STILL NOT LOOKING, heck who has time I have so many babies to play with now!

they were eggs from Kizanne on here. Luckily she sent me a bunch of extras (I ordered 12, I got 17!) I have 4 broken (I thought I had three at first)so I still got an extra! But STILL and the lady at this PO is SUCH a jerkface!!! She sat and questioned me for 10 minutes about WHY i would show up BEFORE i got the slip in my mailbox and I explained that i pay a LOT for priority shipping and when it says at the facility i show up reguardless. she says "well, we get lots and lots of pallets of packages shrink wrapped in the trucks and just bc it says on your phone (i corrected her and said email) that the package is THERE it doesnt mean it is processed. So I said, well, I paid for faster delivery, and if MY package is on THEIR property, i want it...NOW. (by this point I was over being spoken to the way she was) She finally went back to look and came back to tell me that my mail carrier was actually there and said there was no packages there for me, but he had just delivered 4 to my house. ***??? I was so mad when I opened up my poor broken eggs. All I could think is they never even got the chance. SO MAD!!

what are the days to candle on? my first hatch last year i candled everyday! and i did have a good hatch. i think im on day 2 now but write those things down on my calender and i would like to write them down. ive been calnding on day 7 and 10 then 17.

I just got done candleing mine and I know I saw 3 with babies moving, and a few with what looks like blood rings! Others I am not sure about, but I don't think I will even get a 50% hatch.

I think I may need a stronger flashlight! Also my temps seem to be going from 100 to 102. Is this going to hurt my babies?

I use the Ultra Fire WF-501B 1000 Lumen LED flashlight to candle my eggs. It is like using an x-ray. You can buy the flashlight, 2 rechargeable batteries and a charger on ebay for only $16.99 I bought a bunch of them for Christmas and gave them to all of my guy friends and family. As far as your temps go, I would not worry too much unless you start getting up above 102. Each time you open your incubator, the temps will fluctuate for a while until they stabilize. If the temps stays a little high, all that it will do is cause your chicks to develop a little faster. You might chick start hatching a day early or something.
