I have no idea about the yolk rotting...thats why I am concerned that what did survive my postman is COVERED in it!

Inthesticks I love the "ornamental" rabbit breeds, but I make my money off the meaties...although I dont care what ANYONE says, a NZW is an AWESOME pet quality rabbit! My Buck will follow me around the yard like a little dog! LOL!!!

Peach I would not 'wash' the eggs, but I would take a rough dry cloth or like a tooth brush to try to clean off the worst of it.

OMG that is terrible! I would be going sideways if that happened to me! I have had my stupid mail lady bring most of my eggs that are also clearly marked 'call & hold for pick up" I went to the PO & complained in person. It didn't happen again. But yesterday when I went to pikc up the chicks she was in there and said "oh I could have brought them to you" My response was "well IF I wanted you to delievery them the box would not say to hold it for me to pick up- and besides my poor eggs didn't fair too well w/ you delivering them when you were NOT supposed to- can't imagine what shape my chicks would have been in!" She just walked away

I think you must have just missed the answers, I know there were a few... basically I was saying as far as your broody that I would wait a few days you might have miscalculated the hatch day? As for the bator, I also have a brinsea- anyway your eggs should catch up- just try to keep your temps right for the rest of the time

I checked a little better & it's attached to the cord. Do they eat that? Nothing was attached yesterday with my 1st hatch. I looked & it looks ok as long as it will dry up; skin is intact.

I'm usually a pretty laid back person, or I guess a door mat type. ...see the bright side of things, turn the other cheek, just let things go... etc. But this is ridiculous! I'm glad you filed a complaint. The first time the PO messed up... um, ok. But to do it two days in a row?! Come on, that just isn't right.

I would take my smashed eggs and dump them on the PO desk! Ok, so I wouldn't do that really... but I'd think it with spite! LOL.

Not sure about the yolk all over. Don't they sell an "egg wash" type deal at the farm stores? I think it's supposed to be able to wash the eggs and seal them safely. I don't know if that counts for incubating the eggs though.

I used to be pretty laid back, still am most times. But stuff like this sends me sideways! And I probably would have dumped them on the desk

I candled my eggs tonight and had with movement and veining in 18 out of 25!!!!! I am so excited! Here are some pics! It's not very good but maybe yall can see what I saw in one!!!!! Last night I only saw movement in 3, but I did change the batteries in my flashlight!!!!!!!

well i went and did it agian went to tsc and pick up some speckled sussexs today and my buff barham eggs came in today and when was marked for a hold to and what did they do they put them in my front seat of my car and two of them were cracked but the person sent some extras that covered the two that were cracked so it went alright u guess what is up with these post offices these days

But Please dont throw any eggs out this early.
So many ppl on here new and sometimes older to incubating are rash and throw out eggs they think are a blood ring but its a vein or think its a bad air cell that needs to go or open it think its a gonner and a live chick was in there or that egg could have hatch a perfect chick,
Always error on the side of maybe its alive until you have done a lot of hatches and are VERY SURE when something is wrong Im not there yet myself and i have had i guess 16 or 17 ?? hatches NOT POSITIVE that is,on some
If i have some im not sure or think are bad if they dont smell i put an X on the top or a ? with a pencil to show what i saw earlier an candle.
That way i can see what changed or didnt later canding.
At day 17 candle and if they are filling less than 1/2 the egg i usually throw it out...if its all clear ..... out.... eveything else goes in

Temp..... .Low isnt that good constantly but too high is worse.I had thr same issues andevne had tmeps go ot 103 and 94 just have to see what happens,

Low ...Your hatch may be late but your chicks might be fine

Maah, I dont know, I guess it is the new wellbutrin that has me not already in jail tonight for the egg massacre that showed up on my doorstep! I swear if I catch this mailman with another box headed to my doorstep, oh my GAWD, i will probably end up getting pepper sprayed!!!

Thanks everyone for letting me vent. I am officially done getting eggs in now, so I am just looking for an answer on the dirty eggs before I set my last batch!

I went through the whole - hold for pick-up - but put on the truck to be delivered today as well! My husband is at the PO a lot for work and he asked this morning to make sure that they held it for me because I was worried about the cold. They told him "no problem"........well - it was already on the truck. When I updated the tracking later in the day and found out it was on the truck, I made the mistake of telling my husband - he was home for lunch at the time........he slammed his recliner shut and got in his car and drove to the PO and started chewing the lady from this morning out.......I got a call from the mailman himself an hour later on his personal cell phone - telling me of his location so I could come get the box from his truck. I ended up going to meet him with some fresh, warm, chocolate chip cookies in hand......I explained why my husband was so upset and the mailman wasn't too happy when he learned he had eggs in the box.....the box that had a few holes in it...... I told him I had more coming next week and to please call me when he found them in his truck in the morning so I could come get them from him.......

Maybe your mailman could use some cookies too - perhaps with some "special" chocolate in them....

....I have to ask though - would you be interested in some free barnyard mix eggs? I have this awesome box to mail them in and I'm pretty sure even your mailman couldn't hurt them in this....... I'd gladly mail them to you. I feel so bad for your plight! I don't have anything super special in my flock - EE's, BR's, RIR's, BSL - with a very friendly BO roo and a BR roo - so there is a possibility of pure BR's out of the lot.......I've got 23 of my own eggs ready to hatch early next week so I know I have good fertility.

Night of day 20..Orp x Brahma mix and Los are in...a orp x brahma just started getting a pip .

The rest nothing yet.
One LO had been out in 20 degree cold and another 40 degree but they looked all dark inside so they are in... who knows

Candled my Hens Choice
Wouldnt you know the Gold lace Brahma the one i really wanted... doesnt look good. GGRR
The Lo doesnt either think they got too hot They were at the end of the carton so up high Look ok until day 9 or 10 but could suprise me they are very dark inside.
BUT...the good one were up on the other end.Too to at only one end?
i didnt switch them around always the ones on one end were up at that spot.so who knows.Should have i guess

The Coronation Sussex is a goner didnt grow at all Saw that day 10 but left it in case.

SO Good for lockdown tomorrow are;
2 SFH and 2 BLRW (the ones i didnt care about LOL).and LO and GLB will go in but wont hold my breath OH well Shipped.... lucky any made it this far.
