It looks like it is already starting to dry up. I would clean the vent area and the hernia with an antibacterial soap and maybe put some neosporin on it.
I had this a few weeks ago, silkie chick was spraddle leged & toes curled under. I took a bandaid, cut it long ways in half. The little pad in the middle of the bandaid is the lengh a part the legs need to be, so you put it in the middle of the legs, then wrap the sticky ends around each leg. This holds the legs together so they can stand. Don't get it too tight together, that way they can fig. out how to walk with the bandaid on. If her feet are curled, let me know so I can tell you how to make 'boots' to correct that too. I had the bandaid brace on my silkie for about 4 days, then she was fine- you can not tell she ever had a prob. Only thing is, if you are going to help her it needs to be started b/4 she is 3 days old- hope this helps!

You really don't have to do anything, promise! You want it to dry up so that it will harden and shrink. It's ok if the chick doesn't absorb it at this point. Mine was very similar. It was weaker the first few days, but after some sugar/electrolyte water and food he perked up just fine. You could try making some mash with ground up feed mixed with the water to make it applesauce consistency. That way you're sure it's eating something. I don't know about the goopy vent, but what I did for mine was take it out of the hatcher and rinsed it off with warm water when it was drying out because there was fecal matter on it.Do you think it will fall off? Am I trying to dry it or keep it moist? I want to soak it & cleanse it, but if it's to fall off I don't want to inhibit that. The nurse in me is freaking out!!
I've heard of this hatch a long- but what is it really? and how does it work???
Tonight while I was putting everything into lockdown, I realized my incubator's water supply ran totally, completely empty. I've been checking it from the outside and it looked full, but when I opened it today to do the final candle I realized that it was just a shadow making it look like there was water. I don't know how long it's been this empty. I candled last Wednesday and I *think* there was water then but I can't be sure. Did I ruin my hatch? I candled after I realized this and couldn't really see anything but I did see movement so I have hope. I added a lot of water for lockdown.
