FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

Yes it do look like that. Chick was not breathing or moving. The yolk sack was still attached. I did loose the baby. Thank you guys for all of your help! I have 8 more due to hatch on the 7th! Going to buy more thermometers. You can never have enough
Sorry about your hatch- I know how you feel, I've had 2 like that this week.... That was way I helped the chick yesterday. Better luck on the next

Do you guys mind if I join in? I'm on my first hatch but with a broody hen with hatch date 2/13--should be 4 Showgirls and 3 Marans if they all keep developing. I lost 2 Showgirls early. Both were fertile but early quitters.

Oh, I don't know. I spend a lot of time worrying about her worrying about them. Also trying to keep her comfortable, make sure she eats, trying to keep her on the right eggs (dumb chicken). Plus, I'm guessing y'alls incubators don't peck at you when you candle, lol.

I put 21 eggs into lockdown last night! They are all from ColdUpNorth. 3 silkie crosses, 3 EE's, and the rest are Spitzhauben crosses. Hoping for a few chicks by the end of the weekend!

Day 14 of hatching shipped Silkie eggs. PA to CA! The 9 eggs left out of the original 14 are doing great! 5 of the nine have large to very large saddle air cells.

Finally calibrated my hygrometer and found that it was running 5% high. Should be ok...I was keeping it between 40 and 50 anyway. I'm so excited and nervous for hatch day. Btw I know I need a brooder all set up (done that before) but what else do I need to get together for during and right after hatch? Including things I may need for sickly chicks or if I have to assist? Thanks for any info and good luck to all!!
