I know it's hard. I usually try to remember that chicks hatch all the time with no humans around, lol. Thanks Tar Heel. I would hate to see them come this far to die on me now!!!![]()

Oh, no! I wish I could answer your question!!!My humidity got real low <50% and i added water and now it 70%....am I killing them????
I have read that you at least need to keep it above 25%I have been battling with the humidity the whole time day 15 right now. It does down to 20% then in the morning I bring it back up to the 40s should I keep doing this or let it be? There is a sponge in there.

I missed you by less than 5 mins. I can add moisture just fine still, but have zero way to remove it. So this was my best shot! Praying I made the right call. It was seriously less than 2 seconds. Flip yank close!70 is a lot better. Again, I wouldn't worry yet. Just because your humidity was lower than ideal does not mean there is something wrong.
If...and I mean IF, they have a problem with humidity b/c it was too low when they pipped, you will know later on.
For now, assume it's all good. It probably is.
Keep an eye on the humidity and add water if it gets below 65%. But do not open the bator to do it....drop water in through one of the vent holes.
Peach just try to keep it kind of steady- the humidity- 40 was low- don't worry about it being too high during lockdown as long as it's not over say 70-80 b/c the shell is no longer absorbing the moisture until it is pipped. I hope I am making sense here... the thing is you have to have lower humidity days 1-18 b/c the shell is absorbing moisture- more moisture means the air cell won't get big enough- but during lockdown you want it higher so your chicks getting ready to hatch don't get shrink wrapped... long story short keep it over 50 but under 90 and you should be goodI missed you by less than 5 mins.
