I know it's hard. I usually try to remember that chicks hatch all the time with no humans around, lol.

My humidity got real low <50% and i added water and now it 70%....am I killing them????

70 is a lot better. Again, I wouldn't worry yet. Just because your humidity was lower than ideal does not mean there is something wrong.

If...and I mean IF, they have a problem with humidity b/c it was too low when they pipped, you will know later on.

For now, assume it's all good. It probably is.

Keep an eye on the humidity and add water if it gets below 65%. But do not open the bator to do it....drop water in through one of the vent holes.

I couldn't wait for an answer, it got up to 80% and I cracked the window and yanked the pad. (I still have a secondary water source) my gut said it was too high. Trusting my gut. I am a mommy first in life after all!

I missed you by less than 5 mins. I can add moisture just fine still, but have zero way to remove it. So this was my best shot! Praying I made the right call. It was seriously less than 2 seconds. Flip yank close!

Peach just try to keep it kind of steady- the humidity- 40 was low- don't worry about it being too high during lockdown as long as it's not over say 70-80 b/c the shell is no longer absorbing the moisture until it is pipped. I hope I am making sense here... the thing is you have to have lower humidity days 1-18 b/c the shell is absorbing moisture- more moisture means the air cell won't get big enough- but during lockdown you want it higher so your chicks getting ready to hatch don't get shrink wrapped... long story short keep it over 50 but under 90 and you should be good
