I have never had a broody hen but I remember reaing somewhere that once the eggs hatch she will go "unbroody" very quickly.Whoopee, first hatch of the year for us. My broody BCM hen has gone from 3 eggs to three peeps in her nest box. I have never hatched under a hen before and I am just thrilled. I would like to transfer them to a brooder and give her more eggs. My question is: What is the chance she will set another week on some eggs I have in the bator if I give them to her? She did continue to get up and eat, drink, and eliminate, out of the nest every day, so she is in good body condition. I am concerned about leaving the peeps in the hen house without additional heat, but at the same time I hate to take her peeps away from her. I am in New Mexico and it is still very cold here. Any experiences/advice is appreciated. Thank you.
