I think the humidity is off. It was calibrated when we started, but things malfunction right? I
Was the membrane stuck to her/did she seem stuck in the shell and couldn't get out?

it's ok if you don't see alot of movement right now- they are prob resting... what do you mean it looks like it's getting darker? can you take a pic?I have nothing. No peeps no rocking eggs. The one who knocked a bunch of shell off looks like the white under the shell is turning darker. I want to cry. I have been up every two hours checking all night.![]()

The membrane was white last night, about 2am it was getting tan, by 4 am it was brown. She quit making noises hours before that. I don't know if it matters but when I was opening the shell I noticed she was turned all the way around backwards facing the opposite side(not end) of where she started. (Imagine simply turning your desk chair around) also her vent was extruded a lot. She would have been gorgeous. Bright yellow with black streaked feathers on her back. I went downstairs to get coffee and told my hubby what happened. He hugged me and let me cry. Now I am ready for hatch day to go better.
Just got first pip. Got up at 5:30. Good thing I'm homeschooled. I don't think i'll be getting much work done today...good luck- but you better get some sleep while you can- if you think you're excited now- wait to you see pips! Then you really CAN'T sleep!![]()
And another thing- I know I might get some grief about this- BUT if it were me, 1st I'd up the humidity, if you start to see this again- I'd take that egg out and gently pick away shell until you know that baby is getting air- just me, I know others would not- but I would! As long as you are keeping the humidity high enough opening to assist should not hurt the others... Good luck!Peachy I'm sorry! I know how upsetting this for you! Now I saw the post about the membrane getting darker. You need to up the humidity- the membrane is like that due to lack of moisture in my experience. This is why I run my humidity higher than most suggest during lockdown- once I did that I've had 2 good hatches in a row. Seems hatching is trial & error- Just keep an eye on the other pips- I'm praying you will have the rest go well![]()

Thank you Pug. I am stuck here watching 17 very closely. She too seems panicked. I won't wait 12 more hours this time. And another thing- I know I might get some grief about this- BUT if it were me, 1st I'd up the humidity, if you start to see this again- I'd take that egg out and gently pick away shell until you know that baby is getting air- just me, I know others would not- but I would!
