Before I went to bed the 2nd egg pipped, then I woke up again to check on them. #3 had pipped but @ the bottom (pointed end) of the shell. The other 2 look fine, I can still see their little beaks, still breathing & made slight progress- so I know they are ok @ this point. I took out #3 to closer examine, looked like the chick is dead. No movement or sound. I picked the shell back a bit and sure enough, it's gone. I'm sad about it as it looks like only thing wrong was it being upside down & pipping the wrong end. I guess it couldn't get any air.But I am so relieved the other two are doing good!![]()
Hello everyone!

Don't want to ask a dumb question- BUT ya'll have mentioned TSC a few times, is that tractor supply co you're talking about? If so, I didn't know they sold live chicks, the one here does not.Quote:
What is with your TSC stores?! Sounds like one really needs to use a new hatchery if they're getting that high of a roo count, and the other (not touching the chicks) is crazy! Don't they realize that all the kids go into the farm stores to snuggle the chicks!? I'm sure the farm stores sell a TON just by the kids begging their parents! (I know it worked for us!). Plus, dang it... I want to "test drive" a chick before I buy it!... check out legs, bum, close look at feet & beaks, etc. Not letting you touch it... Pah! I'd probably wait until their backs are turned & do my shopping my own way. Better yet - I'd go to our local farm store instead! They've never harrassed you when buying chicks. In fact, they're practically shoving them in the kids pockets "here, tell you mommy you need some baby chickies, aren't they cute?".

Yep, that be her.Don't want to ask a dumb question- BUT ya'll have mentioned TSC a few times, is that tractor supply co you're talking about? If so, I didn't know they sold live chicks, the one here does not.
I only have 2 now. I got 6 shipped, 3 went to lockdown.Aww... poor chickie. How many do you have in there?
Come on chickies... Push!!
I'll ask next time I pick up feed. They've been open for a couple of yrs, but never seen chicks yet, or any live animals there.Yep, that be her.
Ask them if they plan on selling baby chicks.
Ok so my hatchlings still have not piped. They are still moving in she'll and have big veins in shell. Any suggestions?
FINALLY 1 egg has pipped! I can see the little beak, it's peeping & breathing- so now I can breath too! I am soooo relieved, at least I know they are ok, or this one is anyway. This hatching business is nearly more stress than I can stand![]()
