FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

I have to ask, when I see that you have leghorn mixes..did you by chance get them from DMRippy? I got some from her, and had a great hatch. They have grown, and now lay like a leghorn. Not as big, but just as often!! Here is a picture of one with my Wheaten A. in a nest box.

Even if you didn't get them from DMRippy, then all I can say is, those leghorn mixes are the best!
Well, my leghorn is actually a cross herself. She is half leghorn, half Ameraucana. She looks just like a leghorn except her comb isn't as floppy and she has a few black flecks in her white feathers. The father could either be an EE, light Brahma, or cochin, though the cochin isn't as likely as the others. I don't know where she came from though, I got her in a trade with a friend and I don't know where he got her from lol.

Lol you sound worse then me! I have 3 thermometers in there too and all read different. One says 102, one says 100 and the other says 99.5. I figure I'm in the ballpark!

I definitely have earned my moniker.......check out this hot mess....haha

Starting from lower left: 103
Upper left: 95 (WTH???)
Upper middle: 102
Upper right: 100

Not one the same but close enough......it's working.......I don't have a fan so I was hoping to keep it between 100 and 102......

Congrats to everyone with new babies! And to the new hatching Mommas, patience is a HUGE virtue! Wait, sit, don't touch, and wait some more. I'm still waiting. On day 12 here now (set 10, have 7 still going strong..one was set a day after the rest so it'll be hatching last I imagine) and I have finally, after several hatches, learned to *forget* they are in that incubator, unless I am turning them. Makes life less stressful. My Hovabator 1602 N seems to be a set it and forget it bator. I know others have trouble with these cheap still air ones, but I love this silly thing. Might have to buy a second one once my younger pullets start laying >.>

That's the same bator I'm using & we're are hatch day mates! All but 2(1 non-fertile- the other not sure, it's a quail egg w/ lots of dark spots) are going great!! Movement in all the good eggs as of this evening!(couldn't take pics, battery dead from taking Nemo aftermath photos) I have to fiddle just a tad w/ it daily -more than likely due to change in room temp. Not mine though - it's borrowed from a friend
One day I will get a really nice one for myself

I can't wait for next weekend to get here.

I have spent the last couple of days constructing new accommodation - I hope to move my non broody into it as soon as its finished and leave broody in the little coop.

I decided to make a gypsy caravan coop - wish I had gone for something simpler now, it's taking forever to figure out how to do it without plans!
I will post picture of the finished coop and the chicks when they arrive.

Best of luck everyone

I woke up to a football team in my bator...ok ok it sounded like one. Lol. They mowed over the egg carton, dumped out all the eggs, even the one starting to zip and face shells all over the bator...maybe I should have said soccer team! Lol

3 babies hatched in the night and one more is starting to zip. So of my 7 in the bator 5 hatched so far.

Gotta go check my hen to see if her last pipped egg hatched!
