We are in lockdown too! Well, 16 of them are.....6 more go in 2 days.....then today is day 1 for 29 more

Are the chicks really that white the light sussex? LOVE IT!!!

There are 3 darker yellow and one pale lemon (the one nearest the camera in this pic)! One of the yellow ones has 3 feathers at the top of the right leg and the paler one has a yellow tinge to the skin on the legs that the others don't have. It may just be varience within the breed - or perhaps a little of something else in there? - I'm not sure!

peach - LOL - I have a cousin that lives in GA, & I tease him all the time when he complains about the 60 degree weather.

It's a whopping 19 degrees here. However, mad props to your girls for selling all those cookies!! That's hard work!

Also, those are some great looking eggs. What are you going to do with all those chicks?

I HAVE 1 WEEK LEFT! Day 14 here on my 2nd batch of silkies...

Also, on my egg with the liquid section (possible double yolk area)... I checked that 1 egg again this morning super quick, and it's looking better. There still a little sludgy spot on the side, but it's not as big. Looks like baby & veining are starting to take over the neighbors vacant apartment. Lots of dark... baby is getting pretty big, and there's still a week left! I looked it up on the calendar and counted the days, this was the egg that was 1 day shy of 3 weeks old already when I set it in the incubator. Lets hope it doesn't cause problems. In all honesty, I'm surprised it started & seems to be holding it's own!

Please please please let me have healthy babies this time!!!!!

Our Silkie hen is broody. She hasn't laid an egg in 3 weeks and every day we've been kicking her out of the nest box. I'd like to break her of it, get her laying again. Hopefully she'll go broody again after she lays a nice clutch and the weather is a tad warmer. So far no luck. Right now we have no silkie eggs to even put under her if we wanted to. Don't they understand that laying on an empty nest box for weeks is not going to get the job done? Ugh. I would actually put some americauna eggs under her, if I knew for sure she'd continue her brood for another 3 weeks. But really, I'd rather have the silkie chicks and if she hatches out some americauna's, she'd want to raise them & love them, and be mom of the year, all while not giving up the eggs. Ugh. Crazy hen, get with the program!

just wanted to pop in a min to update- will catch up a little later tonight. I have 3 live chicks now!!! the one that hatched last night I put in the brooder with my other small ones & it's doing great, can't believe but it's already picking at food w/ the other chicks!

the other 2 chicks finally made it out this after noon. #3 was actually out before #2! It's doing great as well. #2 is so tired from such a long hatch, seems to be fine, just very tired. thanks to everyone for all the support

LOL maah, yes I know it wasn't as cold as it is there, but y'all up nnorth can't handle the 110* heat we get in the summer so

lol.


My mom gets first dibs on anything I hatch, she wants her own chickens! Yay!

after that I hope to sell most, keep a few, and make money to hatch more! LOL!!!
