FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

Have you seen her poop? I had a situation of similarness -- I got 8 chicks from someone up the road, I didn't notice rigth way but one had what looked like yolk on it- but not the vent. Turns out it's stomach got torn somehow when hatching & it was intestine I believe, it was a lot worse than that & kept getting worse from it walking on it. I had to put it down.
Do you see veining in the lump?? If you have not seen any poops from her, she continues to get weaker, it might be in hers (& yours) to think about culling

If she has pooped & continues to do so then maybe look into something you can give a chick to help fight a possible infection - that might be the cause of weakness if so

I'm very sorry you are going thru this - it's never easy when they are our cuties

HELP!!!! Ok...Emma was hatched on 2/16... I just took her out of the hatch box so she could gain strength; she was very weak.... She's doing well, but this is what her rear looks like today. What do I do? Soak it? I'm afraid to put her with the others :( It started to bleed earlier.
Advice, please :)

Okay so I will head over to the injury section in a day - buttttt I have a chick one of the ones that hatched earlier today & it's legs pop out of it's joints & cant walk because of it?????? I am going to medical tape them up to keep them in place - do yall think that will solve the problem so it wont continue to happen as it grows?? anyone else w/ this issue I can legit move them back into place so I wrapped Little Wobble's legs & also attached the legs closer together as well - Oh man I hope everything works out, I don't want to have to put it down Still waiting on 2 JB eggs & 2EE eggs to do something
If you can get the leg in the normal spot, take a band aide the long ways wrapping each end to each leg. Making a splint for it will help the leg to stay in place. Give it some vitamins-making sure it eats / drinks. Should get better since you noticed it quickly. Most important thing it drinks /eats and stays warm. Good luck!!

Gap - I dnt charge a lot for my eggs, but I wouldn't want them all to be ruined either. I am going to try sally's link suggestion and double boxing too. I want to get the shipping part of business as good as I can. I am hoping I can keep expanding my business.

I am so excited about my eggs, I am anxiously waiting for an update. :D

The best of luck to u :fl

you'll be the first to know!

you said your mom was getting some of your chicks, what are you gonna do with all these you are hatching?
Luckily I live in an area that is very farmer friendly and I am sure I will be able to unload my chicks at a fair price 2-3.00 a chick. Once I sell what I can, I will donate the rest through a program I heard of that helps get low income rural families free or low cost livestock. I hope to sell enough chicks to fund hatching more. I can't have any more chickens where I am at (shouldn't really have mine I have now) but I have the NEED to hatch them! I plan on probably keeping a sizzle if I get one too lol. If I can't push my chicks then I won't hatch any more. But I have high hopes! LOL!! And yes, I know I need a farm, and yes, we hope to be moving in the next year

It looks better in this pic than the last I saw of her. I still think this will continue to dry up- or I hope so. I don't really know of anything you can do with it- if you cut it she could bleed to death, so really all you can do is leave it alone and hope for the best- sorry wish I could give you some help!

No, I didn't mean you charged a lot, but an 8 doz order probably isn't cheap with shipping costs, just would hate to see any more poor eggs who never got a chance! I am so hoping the home made incubator works! I am scared to death!!!
