Apparently we are not the only ones waiting!!

LOL

Hey guys I just candled my day 14 barred rock eggs but I wasn't sure what I was looking for exactly. In all four I could see dark masses which I assume are the chicks and good air cells in the wider part of the egg. In one I could see lots of veining but in the others I couldn't. Which one is good or bad? Or could my poor light be the reason I didn't see any?

You need a brighter light to see in the darker eggs. Usually a non fertile egg will "glow" at day 14 because there is nothing in there. If you are seeing dark in all for it sounds as if they are all good to go.

Well today ihave on BLRW ...came inthe Hens Choice,. Dont know what they looklike but now ihave one LOL It had a tiny pip hole last night the other a big one.Now its out the other is still wiggling and not gone farther .GEEZ.
Day 20 for the Los ...no star cracks yet.
Roxanne you are going to love the BLRW. These were originally on my wish list but I started to get so many other breeds that I eventually had to cross them off.

On Feb. 13th, I was able to get 40 eggs in my incubator! My very first hatch!! The eggs are Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers and Ameracauna/Andie(black and splash). I get to candle then tomorrow and I am so anxious for my babies to get here. This whole patience thing is killing me. LOL

Good luck. Let us know how the candling goes. Here is a great site that shows what you will see on each day of candling: Candling Days 1-21

Hi,
Our Light Sussex chicks should be hatching this week. One of my pullets is sitting on them. First time we have used a broody to hatch.
I don't know how many eggs are uner her. She won't let me close enough to look.
Best Success,
Karen in western PA, USA

Lucky you to have a broody hen. I can't wait until one of my decides to go broody. Until then I have to use my incubator.
