FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

When I candled yesterday it was day 14 I use a 100 lumen flash light
Here are some pictures

There's no movement in any of them I opened one last night and there was no movement

You're right... Those are no goes for day 14.

The one you opened... was there any growth development? Did any of them start?

I wanted to ask- were these shipped eggs? Do you have your bator set right? Just weird that none have development- unless they were all infertile

Dirty Bugger!!!

Ok, Lockdown for me tonight. I just candled my 5 eggs, and I saw movement in each egg! That's good... BUT...

I had posted a while ago about 1 egg that we all determined might possibly be a double yolk because there is a "unused" portion of the egg that appeared sludgy. (I have it down as egg #1) Anyways, THAT egg actually looked pretty good today. However, I have a different egg (#7) with some growth issues. Really?! GRR.

This one looks like it has since acquired an unused side of the egg. MAYBE I didn't write my notes well enough & MAYBE this is actually the same egg as the last report, and not a different one. I'm going to think that this is the case. I must have mixed the eggs up in my notes.

Anyways, here's the "Day 18 Lockdown" picture of that egg. I guess we'll see what hatches if it hatches. It will be a learning experience for us all either way.

lockdown pic -Actually egg "#7" is around the corner in this picture, but I will be sure to monitor it closely. All the rest of the eggs show large dark areas with a small portion of clear & veining between the dark & the air sack. As they should!

Here is the egg with issues...

Another shot of the same egg from a different angle. There is movement in this egg!!

This is my first hatch. I am so nervous!

This is my "Peeps", she is growing, but still tiny for her age!

OK so I can't sleep, went cam happy- here's pics of my eng cho orp babies that hatched this weekend, Sugar Peeps (my 1st chick) & TSC chicks- still have no clue as to what kind of bantams the TSC chicks are. If anyone knows or what to guess I would appreciate it
You can see the eng in them- they are wide & low

I woke up this morning to 2 more chicks for a total of 10 so far. I also noticed one that had pipped was dead, so I checked some others I hadn't seen any movement from that were due 2 days ago - 5 more dead in the shells, for a total of 6 dead and 10 chicks - with another 6 still in the bator - 2 have pipped and are making progress and the other 4 were the last 4 that were due so hopefully today something happens. :)

The TSC chicks- anyone want to guess what they are- I know they are feather legged & bantams- that's it

My daughter's fav - wings coming in dark brown & white- sort of barred looking?
This 1 is yellow on the head & underside, red on top- wings are coming in a pretty peach color?
silver & speckled? wings coming in a dark charcoal?
silver & yellow- but wings coming in white?

happy you have some live ones, I hate when they die in the shell! I had several hatches of nothing but dead chicks, died during lockdown b/f pipping due to low humidity... good luck with the rest!

I checked the 6 I still have left in the incubator and I heard pecking inside the ones that weren't pipped yet so I have hope. 4 of them were due today so......keeping my fingers crossed, especially for #Z. It is the only egg I got from my very favorite hen, Mrs. Howell.

I get some really large eggs like that too from my maran hen (I only have one Maran hen) and from a couple other hens in my mixed flock that I haven't identified. They are so large that they don't sit in the extra large cartons well. But I have hatched any yet because she's not with my Maran roo, she likes to be in the mixed flock and escapes all the time to get back there. Working on a tractor for them. The other monster eggs I've gotten are from older hens, but unidentified.
I have, however hatched out 9 Ameraucana and 3 australorp chicks in the homemade incubator I have (manual turning)

. My brinsea has turkey eggs in it and I'm waiting on parts for my hovabator.
