FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

I checked the 6 I still have left in the incubator and I heard pecking inside the ones that weren't pipped yet so I have hope. 4 of them were due today so......keeping my fingers crossed, especially for #Z. It is the only egg I got from my very favorite hen, Mrs. Howell.

Mrs Howell- LOVE IT! Is she as proper as the one on Gilligan's Island?

I have 10 eggs due today!

Water, soap, and bleach will work for cleaning incubators. Just don't get the electronics wet. For the upper part of the Brinsea octo20 I have, I just wipe with the solution that clear plastic areas and then with a fresh cloth with plain water to get the soap off. For the lower, non-electric part, the whole thing gets washed well and I use a bottle brush for any places that have hatching residue stuck to it as well as scrubbing the water wells out. Rinse well to get the soap off, you can usually smell if there is still soap on the parts. The bleach smell will rinse off as well.

I won 1 of the sets of eggs I was bidding on!!! OMG I can't wait- 12+++ polish bantam & sultan- some should be pure polish, pure polish frizzle, pure sultan & polish/sultan cross

the lady said the ones she's hatched that are the crosses look like 'colored' sultans. I think I am more excited about these than any other I've gotten! Lordy I hope they hatch

Dirty Bugger!!!

Ok, Lockdown for me tonight. I just candled my 5 eggs, and I saw movement in each egg! That's good... BUT...

I had posted a while ago about 1 egg that we all determined might possibly be a double yolk because there is a "unused" portion of the egg that appeared sludgy. (I have it down as egg #1) Anyways, THAT egg actually looked pretty good today. However, I have a different egg (#7) with some growth issues. Really?! GRR.

This one looks like it has since acquired an unused side of the egg. MAYBE I didn't write my notes well enough & MAYBE this is actually the same egg as the last report, and not a different one. I'm going to think that this is the case. I must have mixed the eggs up in my notes.

Anyways, here's the "Day 18 Lockdown" picture of that egg. I guess we'll see what hatches if it hatches. It will be a learning experience for us all either way.

lockdown pic -Actually egg "#7" is around the corner in this picture, but I will be sure to monitor it closely. All the rest of the eggs show large dark areas with a small portion of clear & veining between the dark & the air sack. As they should!

Here is the egg with issues...

Another shot of the same egg from a different angle. There is movement in this egg!!

Never say never but day 18... it looks like a quiter. to me But it does have something going up the egg???HUMM.. the movement is it when you are holdig the egg really still or is it right after you turned it or moved it ?Id put it in if it is moving.

Morning all! I checked my bator humidity, temp. Humidity said 100% so I opened up one of the air holes, it dropped to 50%ish. Its still saying the high is in the 90s, low 30s. The temp is holding around 90-100s.

So am I doing what I need for the humidity? Am I reading it right. Just rechecked it and took out the other plug...how am I doing?

Thanks!
