FEB HATCH-ALONG THREAD ...COME JOIN US.... EVERYONE!

Ok so if big # reads in the 50's% humidity is good, check. My temp needs to be 99.5-100, check. So I don't need to worry about the small #'s for humidity and temp, just the big #'s, check!

Sorry for the non-stop questions but those little #'s were making me crazy!! I couldn't get them to change for nothing!! Ok I'm going to let it sit another hour or so then the eggs are being put in, excited.

Thanks again for the guidance!

I have a LONG way to catch up on everything....but my 3rd incubator is officially at 4 days now...and I know its my group from hell and back between the crushed packages, delayed shipping thanks to the storm, and more including blood spots, and many floating air sacs....all in my first ever home made incubator....

I candled this morning

TWO....

thats it.

and even they look faint for development!! I wish I had bought another LG instead. I literally sat and cried next to the incubator this morning.

4 days is still early. You may have some that are just taking their time to get started.

Are you opening an incubator to take the hatched ones out? I have 12 in my incubator that started hatching late last night, still have 14 eggs left that are peeping and was told not to open the incubator during lock down. I have heard that the chicks are ok in the incubator for two days but i'm afraid to leave them in there too long.

I usually leave them in for a full 24 hours before removing them. I get a wet washcloth and nuke it until it's steaming and then toss that in there as I remove the chicks to help compensate for the humidity that is being lost every time I open the bator. It helps to have 2 people doing it so one can scoop the chicks out, hand them off to another person and get that lid closed again very quickly.
