I have 2 more babies now- 20 min ago 2 more hatched, PLUS 3 more are ZIPPING! The last egg still not pipped, but I'm not giving up on it - so now I'm up to 6 chicks, nearly 7

I just went into lockdown tonight! 8 eggs so exciting 3 eggs are from my own flock, if they hatch they will be my first home grown chicks.

I have 14 growers! I'm trying not to think about the 34 infertiles/shipping fails, haha. Everyone looked good and floaty!

Can't wait to see your Blue BR! I would love to see how you sex them also. I know how it is supposed to work, but would love to see it from someone that has done it a few times!

These guys are hard to sex. They hatch in a bunch of different colors. I have gotten Blue & Black Barred, Solid Blue & Black and a few Splashes.

[COLOR=B22222]Ya'll my bator looks like popcorn popping over here!!!!!!!! So far 4 have hatched (3 @ the same time) & 5 of the other eggs have pipped- only 1 left that has not pipped yet. This is so great! I'll take a group shot when they are all here [/COLOR]

DH is driving me nuts!! He thinks he's so cute... what that's not gonna fly mister!

Yes, it's FINALLY the weekend.  We've both worked hard all week, and for us the weekend is family time. I get that honey, really I do!  Now, the bowling tournament tomorrow is about 1/2 hour away.  We have to be there by 7am, and it could last well into the afternoon.  All this time my chickie-doodles could be hatching!  Well, between here & the bowling, there is a town with a TSC.  He told me, hey maybe we'll stop at that TSC after and see if they have the other chicks we wanted.  Then he says "I might have a surprise for after the bowling tournament tomorrow."  Oh really honey, what kind of surprise?!   I can't imagine us needing anything else.  Then he tells me it's a surprise for our other son who is 10 years old.  Apparently a guy from his work also lives in this same town as the TSC, and he wants us all to go there after the tournament for "pine car racing... or pine box derby" whatever the heck that is!!  He's trying to lure me into this town with chicks!!  He's plays dirty hard ball, but it's not working.  He even brought me home some new wine today.  I should have known...

Any other time I would have no problem with this, lovely dear husband of mine!!  BUT NOT TOMORROW!! 

I told him... Don't make me drive separately!!!  We are going there, and then we are coming HOME!!  If I had an outlet in my flipping belly button I'd take the bator with us, but I can't!  So either we go there as a family and support our son, and then come straight home... or I will have to stay here.      He laughed & said ya know they have an adapter for the car for that!

 

I have yet to figure out if he's being serious, or if he's just toying with me cuz he sees how I am when I pass by the bator 80 billion times a day.  Did you know that I can "candle" my eggs without even taking them out of the incubator?  It's candle cheating and it's fascinating!!  I can see the air sack just by holding the light up to the side.  Yes, I know it's not helping me, but I wonder if I'll be able to see internal pips this way.  I want to try it tomorrow.... ... but HE knows I'm a teeny tiny bit obsessed, and I sure hope he's just screwing with me.

They do make adapters for cars to plug in for instance an incubator! Go to a parts store they will know

EEEE!!! My cheater candling is SO cool. I just spied on a chickie-doodle (egg#4) trying to internal pip! It was moving & pushing against the air sack. Hasn't made it yet, & I'm off to bed for our early start so I can't watch more (it probably doesn't appreciate my light in her face anyways)... Thinking I should hear some cheeping by morning. I hope they wait for me to get home tho!!

Ok so today is grandpas birthday and he is in a nursing home for physical therapy and gets out tomorrow. But what to take him hummmm. Maybe I will go to Atwoods. Sure lets go. I found him a cute mallard duck ( plus 3 more bantams) one was hurt so I got it for free. So we get there and I sneak past one nurse then another. Wand another. Can't find grandpa. Found him. With my hand in my coat pocket I told him happy birthday and asked him if he wanted his present. He said baby you didn't have to. And I handed him his baby mallard duck. He started to tear up and just smiled holding his new baby. He said can we take it swimming in the pond tomorrow? Lol grandpa soon but maybe inside first!

So I left Atwoods with one duck and three chicks bantam. Oh my my babies need to hatch. I still have till the 7 th Aaaahhhhhhhh.

Ddnt get back out since this morning so I'm wondering if we have any babes yet? The bator is holding steady, I did lower my humidity so keep your fingers crossed. I would fall out in the floor if they hatched. Got 43 cooking right now and will set another 12 if Alice wants to be a momma again..
