I'll be setting eggs again on March 9th for the Easter Hatch-a-long. That thread is a MAD HOUSE though, so I'm sure I'll post in the March thread instead.
Yes that is why this BYC thread is so great, we all support each other. I've learned so much from all of you & hope that maybe I've been able to help some of you too. I would have given up after the 1st hatch if not for this! Wow I'm getting all emotional

I have tried getting involved in other threads, but couldn't seem to connect w/ anyone really... So I stay here where I look forward everyday to checking in & seeing what's going on w/ everyone else

And btw, my SILKIE/POLISH FRIZZLE EGGS ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And they are all in great shape, none cracked or broken! And she sent 7 extras for a total of 17! I can't wait to see how they turn out. Still can't believe she sent so many extras

refamat..your babies..picture overload..and one of my miracle baby. So far so good with the little crispy baby as I call her.

Fluffy faces coming up

I really like the markings on this one.

Here's my little crispy baby fighting for it's life. I have a feeling it's going to make it. You
can see how gooy it was in that shell. All dried on the baby. When it is up and running,
:p..I will wash that off.

Here is a picture of our Ameracauna pullet, Cinder. She had to be helped out of her shell and I just had her under a low heat lamp - I went in the house and when I came out (she was on our 3 season deck in a closed in brooder), she had rolled right under the light and I'd had the temperature too high. Actually crisped up a small area of back feathers and she was just in the process of drying from the hatch, so had been pretty wet still. All those wet feathers just attracted the heat, of course. Poor babe. Even though she wasn't burned, I treated her as if she was. I didn't think she'd make it but she has grown to be a favourite.

My last batch of chicks to hatch in February finished hatching this morning - three days from 1st to hatch to the last to hatch. Out of 18 eggs, 10 hatched - some of them had quit earlier but didn't have my bright candler at lockdown, so I didn't see that. At least 4 died during lockdown - mostly my Icelandics.

3 of our Welsummers and 2 of our Silkie mixes

1 of our Polish and 4 of our other mixes

*I have more hatching in March, but I have to start slowing down since brooder room is getting scarce and its still too cold to send the older chicks into the wilds of outside coop living.

Oh, she is pretty. Look at that face. Some chickens just have that more sweet look in their eyes..she has it! Beautiful. I am hoping my little Crispy is a girl. What a little fighter she's been. Going to post a picture soon. Thanks for sharing. :D

You want to let those cochin eggs rest for 24 hours pointy end down before putting them in the bator. They need time to "rest" before incubating.

Here's my miracle baby..Crispy. I think the name really stuck when gape encouraged her when she saw the first picture saying: Come on Crispy!

When she was fighting for her life, and she was crispy hard. There was no chipping
away at the shell to help her out, it just crumbled in my hand, and there was the stuff.
so I hurried and pulled her neck up out of it. Cleared most of it away, she had bled a
lot! No way I thought, but I put her in the incubator, with no egg shell around her, just
her and the yolk to be absorbed.

Here she is after she finally woke up

She's so cute..I don't know, maybe she needs a cutsie name.. :D

Pretty sweet baby

Thank you!! She's strong now, but I'm going to tie the hernia off in a little while. She keeps falling backwards.

Hi all!! Just wanted to update !!! My 2 special needs babies have both recovered, the extra stuff hanging on has now fallen off :)

Please look at this short video & tell me what you all think I have :) I was told that the mama was Ameraucauna/ Brahma mix, fertilized by Ameraucana roo. My first hatch I got 50%!! Not bad for a homemade bator!! So here are my babies <3 Bebe is the biggest & it's only 15 days old, but HUGE!!... they all hatched between 2/13-2/19. Anybody know what they are (besides chickens) & if anyone has an idea on who may be a boy/girl?
Thanks guys!!! I have better individual pics, but they don't like to be still :)

I'm going on lockdown tonight!!! I have 2 green eggs, 2 blue & 1 brown from my g-ma's flock!! She says they are Aracaunas. So do I have to post in the March hatch along thread now? lol
