Okay first candling done, of my Auracana eggs all but 2 are thriving, one may be a slower grower and one I'm afraid is showing a blood Ring but I'm not willing to give up on her just yet. My polish eggs are a little less successful but my boy is young but we do have about 70% bouncing and the rest are looking like yolkers. And last but not least it looks like the Orpingtons were all fertile but 3 and there may be a blood Ring developing in one but the egg has good veins development so it may be nothing. All the air sacks look great! All in all super pleased so far with the first batch of the year.

Great news for the first attempt of the year I must say. I'm currently on the third try for the first two ended up being yolkers. Perhaps the cold weather here in Michigan, combined with a young rooster as well contributed to the unfertile eggs. This go around though similar to you I have 17 EEs thriving in their oval homes as we speak.

As an outsider they appear to be names possibly for the chicks. As for the Sea I'm kinda curious as well?

Seabright? Yes, two votes that they are the egg names (I think I remember earlier in this thread a discussion about naming eggs).

I must say I give props to those who name their chickens. I personally can hardly remember my family's names non alone 30+ chickens.

So unfortunately for my Roos in my flock they all get called girls. I must say though they don't seem to mind it to bad for they all come running once they hear my voice, or in some cases when they hear the sliding glass door open.

May I ask what's all the writing on your eggs? I am guessing breeds maybe? Thanks any ideas I am open too if no one minds me using theirs.

Understandable questions!

It is rather strange to have all that writing on eggs.

1) The "SEA" was written by the breeder/seller. It's an abbreviation for a misspelling of the breed name, "Sebright." The eggs were advertised as "Seabrihgt."

2) The rest of the writing is mine, because I like to name all the eggs. Sometimes, they actually end up being the names of the chickens. When I first started incubating, I read that it is recommended to put an X on one side of each egg if you are hand turning, to make sure that you know they have been turned. It seemed to me that if I am writing on eggs, I may as well put a fun name on each egg, instead of an X on every one. So, these Sebrights are: Flame, Dorado, Firefly... and other golden things. So, you are quite right, Jim121898!

I make it easy on myself and call them themed names - one pen is all toy names, one pen is story book characters, then there's the Marans who have names from Les Mis , and a group that are Gilligan's Island themed.
Or, you could just do what my daughter did with our first chickens and call them all "Meredith"

Lol, yes! I had a little chick called "Daisy" who grew into a rooster. Now, he is rehomed with a farmer who calls him "Mr. Daisy."

It is so nice to have birds come running on little chicken legs to meet you when they know you are there.

Yes it is indeed! It's kinda nice to know someone is always happy to see you.

It does help when it's with treats in tow.
