February 2017 Hatch-a-long

My sole Sebright pipped, zipped and hatched with lightning speed, while I had my back turned.

Chicken people can understand that this wet, flopped creature is such a beautiful sight.

I do want to say to everyone on here that I thank you from the bottom of my heart this has been an experience that I was not ready for and all the help I received from everyone has been great! You can't get a better bunch of people that go out of their way to help someone else. I'm glad I found BYC. You people are great!!

We are all just paying forward from the help we, ourselves, have gotten from the awesome folks here! They've saved my bacon a number of times!:thumbsup

Well they sure did save my bacon this time old eggs and new to incubation I'm confident my flock will flurish this summer. And I have some Roos to put in the freezer too lol from 5 black sex-links I have 4 males lol

It's doing great just the membrane dried up on it the pic shows red but it's not and no sign of a problem that time will not cure it's just stuck to its down my problem is the other one I think I'm going to loose it it was stuck pretty bad and could not pull the shell away from it ether so it's still under high humidity I mistedvitt and set it back into the incubator at 75% humidity hope it will eventually separate and make it but I think it has a small chance but the one on the pic no it will survive it's up and running around with its brothers and sisters

Pictures can be so deceiving! Will send positive thoughts to your other one...

Well number 6 is looking better and now we have number 7 but I have one I'm worried about it zipped yesterday and hasn't came out yet I think it's stuck because it was zipped when I lost the humidity what should I do experts??

Congratulations on your 6 little peeps...and I'm happy that the buff is doing better!
As you the question of what to do about the 7th, I'm clueless but I trust someone with experience will come along soon.

@cuzChickens

What kind of chicks? They are beautiful!
I second the question. I just FINALLY saw one little peep out! Whew! (I'll post my thoughts and pics in a few). But mine looks remarkably like @CuzChickens first pic. Mine doesn't have such clear color definition but overall colors are same/similar; eyeliner is the same too!

Oh, I am so excited! The one lone Sebright egg that made it to lockdown is peeping! It's Day 20, and there are peeps!

This egg had a very loose aircell the whole time, and is propped upright in a cardboard tube. Hoping the little bird can make it out on its own...
Whenever you're able (sorry for nagging) could you please post a few pics of what a Sebright looks like and also of the size of the egg? I'm curious to compare egg sizes with my petite silkies' eggs...and I always want to see and learn more about beautiful breeds!
Thanks.
