February 2017 Hatch-a-long

Here's some silver laced Sebrights, with a bantam EE and some D'Uccles. they were still pretty young here. I'll see if I can find my gold laced ones that turned out to be roos. The one hen I have, lays eggs a TINY bit smaller than my silkies or the D;Uccles
What are the brown ones in the pic? I have one of them left I had 4 and they lay the biggest brown egg I have seen I have only 2 of their eggs in the incubator hoping one hatches.

I have learned one thing for sure hatching eggs are like popcorn you start out with one or two pops then a bunch then it slows down then when you don't think there is any more another one or two pop. I thought that my count was just 12 we'll now after looking in the incubator and seeing no more action I removed all the chicks got them in the brooder and going well. Letting the eggs sit just in case looked in 10 minutes ago seeing nothing I just looked again there is another chick that piped out in that time I'll wait till tomorrow to check again but the more the merrier!!

And... goodnight! from one sleepy Sebright. Hatching is hard work for babies. This single chick starts and ends my February hatch. Because s/he was alone, I cuddled this little one all afternoon and evening. Congratulations to all my BYC hatch-a-holics. See you in a March Hatch-A-Long?

Oh, and the baby needs a name. Topaz or Firefly?

The brown ones in the photo are two of the Mille Fleur D'Uccles that I hatched. They are the same size as the seabrights, which are tiny and they lay tiny little eggs.

I am not sure what would lay a large brown egg that is as fluffy as these guys are. Cochins maybe?

Thank you! (I was the one asking for a comparison). Those eggs really are tiny. I suppose Sebrights at full size are also smaller than silkies? Or maybe it doesn't work that way...
Even in my silkies, I have a couple of roos that are big boys, and their sister who is 1/2 their size, maybe smaller. The eggs looked the same , they just grew differently.
