Lots of mixes, we don't have breeding pens. There are mallard, American blacks, Cayuga, rouen, buff and buff runner, it will be a toss up I have no idea what I will end up with. I would really love a crested, even if its one!!! Oh and Pekin, forgot the pekin![]()
I did a quick candle tonight and all but 3 of the 52 eggs i set are fertile. 2 of the 3 looked like some veining is beginning. They could be late starters or early quitters. I'll leave them till the next candling in a few days when I add more eggs. All 7 of the orp eggs that where shipped are all fertile and developing. They came from sunnysky if anybody is looking for good fertile orp eggs.
I hope so. If this and the next few hatches go well I'll be done early this year and up to my ears in chicks. That's awesome! You are going to have a pile of fuzzybutts soon!![]()
I did a official candle on all the incubator eggs except the 4 I set 1/27. I had 4 infertile of the 21 I set in the incubator on 1/23 and 1/24. So 17 still going strong. I'm pretty positive the 4 I set 1/27 are infertile but figured I would given it one last go! I'll check the broody eggs tomorrow for a final official fertile count.
No offense taken. I understand where you're coming from. 1 infertile was from another flock, 1 was one of my orpington eggs, and 2 were from the same ohiki girls who have be throwing infertile eggs for a couple weeks. I've candled way to much in my life to not tell. The 23 and 24 were infertile. Cracked them to make sure. All other have good veining but to early to know on the 27th eggs. I just figure they are also as they come from the same two hens who have been throwing the infertile eggs for the past 2 weeks here.It might just be to early to tell. The ones you set on the 23rd & the 24th will only be a week on sat. & sun. The ones set on the 27th are way too early to know for sure. Please don't take any offense, I just would hate to see you get rid of some eggs that might still viable.![]()
Good I glad you didn't take offense, hopefully your later date eggs will be furtile. I was so excited when I candled (1) 3 day old egg from my blue egg laying EE and found that the egg was developing. Five weeks ago they werent. Good luckNo offense taken.
