I wasn't surprised to see you on here, purpletie3. I noticed you were winning auctions left and right on the auction page! Good luck with your hatches! With such a mix, I'd love to hear your observations on packing, distance, and air cell quality!
LOL... I just bought a huge incubator...So, I am trying it out!
The packing from the BYC membersI have purchased from has been great! Some of them double box. Everyone wraps in bubble wrap and uses a roll of tape. Some cell up some sideways in a carton. Some with heat packs some not. Didn't seem to matter if they were well packed.

Some of the packing from the E-Bay auctions were in musty newspaper, kleenex, eww...But, most were well packed with bubble wrap and air cells up. Some use shredded newspaper which seemed fine in a double box situation. The only ones I have received where the box was ridiculous was these huge rhodebar eggs in the smallest box with not enough wrap. Not sure if they had froze or just broke...it was sad.

I have had eggs overnighted only to show up three days late. I also expect that a 50% hatch rate would be amazing!!! As far as distance...I bought two eggs auctions that were in NY. But, it took the post office forever to deliver one of them. Luckily they were well packed.

Did you notice any correlation between double boxing and air cell quality?
I'm hoping to sell (and ship) eggs late this year or early next, so in addition to reading everything, I also want to hear as many real-life experiences as I can. :)

The boxes that arrived with damage were pretty much scrambled. I would def say that you would want to consider shipping with the air sac up. I think they generally handle it upright so the jostles in the truck may be more up and down as opposed to side to side if they were positioned sideways. Some write LIVE EMBRYO's or LIVE HATCHING EGGS. I like the ones with the highlighted Please... that was pretty well arrived.

Some bubble wrap and then put them in a egg carton. Then, surround the egg carton with bubble wrap or shredded paper. Some put the heat pack in the outside box. But, it always arrives cold.

@Purpletie3 I was wondering the same, thanks for posting all that info on packing! And good luck on your hatches, I can't wait to see what turns out!

I am sorry...Were these your own eggs?

@Purpletie3 yes they are from my flock so just mildly dissaponting
Ahhh...Gotta get that rooster on task! I am looking forward to the day I can check for fertility in my flock...they are lil guys right now. Although, my EE are probably 5 months now and the rooster is crowing up a storm. I love that sound!

Good luck with your next round!

Well, Here is my February madness:

1/17 set for 2/7 hatch:

26 Eggs of Cream Crested Legbar, Olive Egger & Black copper maran mix
14 Belgium Quail D'Anver
6 Spangled Hamburg

Set 1/24 due 2/14/15 hatch:
8 Ameraucana
30 CCL, OE, BCM
14 Barnyard mix of Bantam black orpington, wheaten sulmater, sulmtaler/leghorn cross, white leghorn, New Hampshire
6 Black Copper Marans
6 Blue Isbars
8 Svart Hona

Total of 118 eggs.

All are from shipped eggs. Many suffered air sac damage and show no development. However, I hold out hope for all!

I am very interested in Isbars but some of the sources sell almost white looking eggs. How did your eggs look? How did they arrive? Who did you order them from? If you prefer, you can PM me the answers. I'd like to get Isbar eggs for the Easter HAL, but they are expensive, I want to get good eggs.
