Lockdown started for me today, and we've got wigglers! Not sure that means they're near hatching, cause I just put them in their, but I'm guessing they're just cramped! It's like watching paint dry (or eggs wiggling)

I saw button quail and thought... must... step away... from keyboard... asked my DH to tape me down, he raised an eyebrow and walked out of the room. I have 12 set for 3/7 and one lowly straggler in the bator thats due next weekend.

UPDATE: Closing out my hatch in the morning, but not staying up tonight.

Final Count on my 12 Shipped B-Welsummers .......................... NINE .............................. !

The three slackers will be eggtopsied tomorrow. Looking back at my notes, I had 3 "iffies" that I gave a last chance to when we went to lockdown. The last 3 are in ICU. #7 has had something going on with eyes and I fear she is blind. #s 8 & 9 were zipped w/out progress for about 36 hours and were totally shrink-wrapped. I finally intervened last night. #8 is splay legged with turned under deformed feet like my silkie chix in Jan that died - I think this is because of the delayed hatching and shrink-wrap effect. #9 has one leg splayed.--ditto, cause. I left all 3 in the hatcher over night and all were still going this morning so made an 'ICU' box in the brooder, put a hobble splint on #9, chick shoes and a pipe-cleaner hobble brace on #8. NOW..... Pictures:


The six Hooligans. I am hoping for at least 3-4 pullets.

The Hospital wing. The one backed into the corner is the one I think is blind. You can't tell under the red light but the chick shoes are pink. S/he seems to be doing well w/them.

#8 & #9, still have their fluff all stuck down, but dry. I didn't want to risk a bath today, but may see if I can wash it off Tuesday when shoes and braces are changed/removed. Can anyone give instructions for bathing 3 day old chicks?

what are you hatching? I seem to remember that Save the Favs has a couple hatches due later in Feb..............how 'bout it STF. any due the 25,26 or 27th?And everybody, run out, grab a few eggs, pop 'em in a bator and get ready for March!! The Hatching Madness continues!! I'm in for the 2nd and 6th, and plans for the last week!

LOL, I tried to get hubby to sit long enough to see one, but the lil buggers wouldn't move! He thinks I'm nuts, so you're not the only one! lol.

just thought Iwould join the february hatch, mine are due around the 21 I have 2 sizzles, 2 welsumer and 2 cukoo marans that a new friend gave me. then I threw in an egg from my cochan mix hen breed with a buff cochan it will be due around the 28 . I put it in to see if the new buff cochan rooster was sucessful in his quest. he would chase them but I never would see if he caught them. Good Luck everybody!
