FEBRUARY HATCH-A-LONG come join in

I still have one week before lockdown and I am beside myself. I have a feeling that if even one hatches I am hopelessly addicted forever. Which means I need to save $700 for Brinseas HUGE bator.

Did the final candling on my three BCM eggs. The ones marked 1 and 2 had the proper size air cell for day 14 development. The egg marked 5 had an air cell that was smaller than the other two, more like the size at day 10 or 11. That one I'll check again when I go into lockdown this Saturday. This is my first time with incubation/hatching (outside of my elementary school days), so I'm hoping for the best while chewing off the last of my fingernails.

Hatch is over...I have 30 chicks out of 34 eggs...pretty good for a first hatch!

I think I'm addicted. Who wants me to hatch chicks for them? I can't hatch anymore for myself right now!

I ended up with 5/12 hatching out. I will be buying an egg turner for my incubator ASAP. I am planning my next hatch with some local cuckoo marans. I just need to coordinate with the seller, so I can get them and get them in the bator.

OH NO!! We had a Silkie (buff) hatch in the incubator before we left the house, we moved him to the hatcher, including the other Silkie eggs that were due with him (they're early!), I hope that was a good move.
Anyway, he looks just like the Orpington chicks!!! I can't tell the difference. I THINK he's the one on the bottom with the other 2 down there, and they are dryer than he is, so I marked the wetter, smaller one..but he looks so much like them, I hope I marked the right one!
Is there any way to distinguish for sure? I've got more Silkies due, don't want them to get all mixed up with the Orpingtons since the Orpingtons are leaving, and the Silkies are staying.
I had no markers that would rub on him, so I had to use a dab of pink nailpolish on his head.

We've got 9 chicks total, alot more to go, plus some Texas A&M/Pharoah Quail eggs going in on Friday.

I'm looking for eggs now too. Ken doesn't care - he bought the bator and he started the whole chicken thing and wants me to get the hang of the bator. He wants to buy ANOTHER Brinsea too!
