Well, yesterday was Day 21...... no pips. A voice inside me said, "what did I do wrong." Then I got ready & went to work. This morning was Day 22......no pips. That voice again, "I must have really screwed up & I thought the incubation went well." So, when I got home from work today still hoping for the best as I always do with the hatches...... there it was, a zipped egg. So I grabbed the camera & took some "progression pictures" to share with you. These were taken thru my dome incubator plastic, not the clearest pics. My Bantam Faverolles & Ameraucana/Faverolles crosses usually do their thing on Day 22 anyway; silly me. They often hatch when I'm away or sleeping too, so if that happens to you then......here's how it goes. Happy hatching everyone!!!
#1 (A pip from another egg, just to show what comes first)
#2 The zip from the 1st egg hatched
#3 Popped the shell lid
#4 Pushing out
#5 The big push
#6 Head is out
#7 Head went back in
#8 The big leap out, taking the shell with it (doesn't usually happen)
#9 Resting
#10 Took a step, then resting
#11 Looking around
#12 Again with the resting, must not realize that I've been waiting for over 21 days
#13 Came over to say hello, how sweet
#14 OOOps! Startled! Camera flash went off by mistake
#15 Won't come back till I promise "no flash". I promised!!
#16 Ran over to a zipping egg, just to be nosey, see the zipped hole in the middle egg
#17 Heard a peep & pip, ran over there for moral support
#18 Came back to me, I'm forgiven
While putting this together, another hatched. More pics to come later!
