Since the RIR/Ara crosses came from blue eggs, couldn't they be considered Easter Eggers -- won't they carry the blue egg gene (or is that only if they are roos that they'll carry the blue egg gene)? If my thinking is correct, you can call these Easter Eggers. If I'm wrong, somebody will straighten me out.

Day 19! I can't stop looking in the incubator
wee.gif

I candled last night before lockdown; 14 of 20 shipped eggs doing well (I can't see much in the dark ones, so I hope they all hatch!), and the 4 Seramas from SilverPhoenix look ready to hatch.
I read somewhere that a study of humidity under a setting hen showed:
Day 1-18 38-42%
Day 19 50%
Day 20 52-58%
Day 21 62-65%

The Serama air cells looked big to me, so I bumped it to 45 yesterday and 55 today. Will do 58 tomorrow and 65 on Saturday.
Hmmm.... wonder what temps that hen used.
Happy Hatching everyone!

I learned last night that some people hold their flashlight on the top of their egg to candle (I didnt know that
hu.gif
) I was holding the flashlight under the egg and that worked good on day 7, not so good on day 10ish.... So I did some eggs like that last night and they are all growing nicely, seen the chickie moving. Going to really candle them again this Sat. or Sun. night (it will be day 14 for them). Hatch Day... 27th

The one that piped yesterday still is not out of the shell yet. But is working on it, even though it looks like it is upside down. I can hear peeping from other shells now. I just wish I could be here the rest of the weekend to watch them hatch. Good thing id my sister will be here to keep an eye on them for me.

It is out. A Buff Orpington. No more PIPS, but this is the middle of day #20. Wonder why one was out so early, but I tell you, that was a first time pullet egg (small) and that chick is huge. It never ceases to amaze me how they fit inside such a small egg.

The PIP from last night - Lower right corner egg.
