I set 12 mutt eggs under a broody BO yesterday. This is my first hatch, so it is somewhat of an experiment. It's earlier that I had planned, but I couldn't break her broodiness. Their hatch date is around the 19th or 20th of Feb. We're anxiously waiting.......

well i'm getting silkie eggs this week

so if they arrive in time i'll be joining this thread. did a redo on my thermostat in my homemade incubator. replaced it with a household one with a few modifications to make it go high enough ( thanks to hubby) so far temps are holing to within 0.4 degrees

now if i can just keep the humidity stable and the power doesn't go out like last months hatch. everything will be fine

I can't believe it!!

I candled my B-Welsummer eggs [and transferred them into the Suro-20]. Of my seventeen SHIPPED eggs, one with a hairline crack I sealed w/candle wax, I had NO CLEARS!, 3 perhaps ??s [less darkness at the large end] and 14 with dark centers, clear pointy ends and decipherable air it is cells of various sizes! Taking into consideration : 1] I am a VERY IN-experienced candler with a wretched record, 2] these are med-brown b-WELLIES I am trying to see into & 3] these were SHIPPED eggs! I transferred ALL 17 as positives .............................I am ecstatic!!!! FEBRUARY HATCH-ALONG ROCKS!!!

I have 3 turkeys hatching the 4th

3 chicken eggs on the 7th 1 turken 2 sexlink

16 eggs a big mix of turken, sex link, & ee's on the 15th

18 show girl and a few silkie on the 19th

and more going in in the next few days ........
