Anyhooo huge update for me. 31 out of 42 eggs went into lockdown the 6th... I have ragged fingernails and twitches from the stress. BUT final count as the last one hatches tonight.... *drumroll* All 31 made it out!!!!!! they are a mixed flock excluding the Phoenix which are purebred. Here is the photobucket link as I could not decide which ones to post. When my bosslady gets the video loaded we actually captured the hatch of the second to last one this afternoon.

There was a total of 5 blacks and one smokey, one striped similar to the phoenix,*hmmm treat*phoenix roo* got lucky with a strange hen? lol* the rest were yellowish and 10 phoenix. I am hoping for plenty of hens for my inlaws as they are wanting some layers this year. sadly early last year a fox wiped them out.

*edit* There were many calls placed to my big bro.. Catdaddyfro ... Thanks man for the support I really really appreciate it!!!

Why do I always forget to thank the wonderful people in my life sometimes

but I have the edit button at my fingertips so all is well in the world

2 days! Woot! I'm jealous!
I just candled and have never seen so many wigglers! All 4 Seramas from SilverPhoenix are dancing away!

The darker eggs are really hard.. the one with a crack and a tape job looks clear, but the 2 it was stuck to are fine!
Recandling again in a few days

Can I join? I just went into lockdown at 830pm tonight, noticed quite a few others that went into lockdown today too. I candled all 7 (that's what I started with

) and they're all full and moving...hopefully in 3 days I'll have 7 fluffy butts

Good luck to all and happy hatching

Just did "lockdown" for 7 eggs on Tuesday morning. It's "the calm before the storm" for these Bantam Faverolles, a Cochin, & 1 to 3 Dominique/Favs crosses; hoping for a nice pure Favs pullet or more. Have got 2 incubators going with 4 stagered hatch due dates of the 12th, 16th, 18th & 21st of Feb. If they cooperate, then the egg transfers & lockdowns should work out just as smooth as I had worked it out with pencil & paper (I'm laughing & shaking my head as I'm typing this).

Have never done stagered hatches before, but became inspired by seeing all of the ones being done in the posts. Really don't think I want to keep doing these close ones though, too nerve wrecking.

For my Marsh plastic dome incubators the "lockdown trays" are already set up for each hatch due, which allows for divided areas (plastic canvas tray with attached walls & one row of attached egg carton) for the Favs that will hatch out same color as the Wheaton Ameraucana/Favs crosses in the next 3 lockdowns. Then I will be able to mark the Favs for keepers. The Batch #4/last single egg due to hatch will be "tricky," as it will have to stay in the incubator with Batch #3 during it's lockdown (don't think the other bator will be unoccupied). The "trick" is that I have rigged up a way to keep turning it without opening the bator for the 4 days before it can stop being turned in it's own independent single egg carton cell. Wait til you see the "trick turning thingy." Taking a chance with this "special" single egg (came from the hen I wanted to collect another egg from) that the humidity won't be too high for it to make it out of the egg. Will share pics as the lockdowns are done, so you can laugh & shake your head too!

Here's the Batch #1 lockdown on it's tray, with everything attached so it doesn't get knocked around too much as in many prior hatches. Wish me luck! Happy hatching to all of you out there!
