Aaah don't worry, you shouldn't expect anything on day 18 or 19 and most probably not 20. I'm on day 21 and still waiting, but nothing yet. I just hope that however long it takes - I get some alive, healthy chicks. I know people experience temp spikes, but these guys experienced a 5 hour temp spike during lockdown. . .

Well I just candled the only two that made it to lockdown and neither one of them made it. Looks like they quit early. This hatch was a bust but not to worry, I have another batch going into lockdown on Saturday.

What types do you have in your batch for Saturday?

I have some BBS silkies, a couple Sultans(testing)and a few frizzlexsilkies from my pen and then Buff Brahma x GLW from my daughters pen.
I am thinking of setting some more in the hatcher until saturday when I need it for lockdown.......lol
Then I will start setting some of my cochins.

We had our first hatch this weekend!!!! We messed it up a little bit though. We heard chirping and ovserved peeping Saturday morning. The first was out by Saturday at midnight! We stayed up all night watching and taking the fluffed ones out because they were trampling their siblings and the unhatched, pipped, and zipped eggs.

We were in the bator too much and last night had three eggs with a decent sized hold where the chicks had pecked it out. The membranes were white and dry and leathery. We went to bed, leaving well enough alone and when we got up this morning still no progress and weaker chicks. We assisted them ( yes, I know many of you think that is *wrong*), and two are doing well. One has either a cord that hasnt come off or a prolapse, I can't tell which. But all three are trying their best to stand and walk around. We understand they will be slow a while longer since they didn't break themselves the whole way out of their shell.

We also have four that havent hatched, one that pipped this morning and you can see moving. We bumped up the humidity. Its day 23, is this normal?

We ordered the automatic waterer and hopefully its here soon so next time around we can go on lockdown and don't have to continually open to add water.

We have 13 Barnevelder babies happily running, playing, and chirping around in the brooder. Ahhh. Nothings better

I don't have any BLRW. I did have one hen but lost her at the beginning of winter. I am going to be looking for some in the spring though.
